Abstract

Drug and alcohol dependence takes an enormous toll on the individual and his family and on society. With the increased dissemination of facts regarding the large number of drug and alcohol addictor in this country and the personal, social, industrial, economic, political, and public health aspects of drug and alcohol dependence, there will be a growing need for the medical profession to devise and implement sound and scientific approaches for the prevention and treatment.
The author presents the general information of drug and alcohol intoxication for clinical practitioner and those associated with the parafield of medicine.
